I saw someone post about this a few days ago, but couldn't find the thread. Could anyone give me instructions on how to get Civ4 to go in windowed mode?

there's a line in the .ini file that says "; Specify whether to play in fullscreen mode 0/1/ask" 1 is yes = fullscreen, ask means it asks you when it boots, and 0 means no and it goes to windowed mode.

Thanks, but how do i get to the .ini folder? I've never really tried getting to the files of a game before.

On your computer?

My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\CivilizationIV.ini perhaps. If not there is a shortcut in the location you installed the game at in the main folder so look on your hard drive, program files, firaxis and then in the next folder there is shortcut to the ini and automatically opens in notepad for editing.

Maybe you shouldn't mess with it ;)

Well, I got it to run in window mode but mouse scrolling went away, is there a way to enable that again?

Opps, found it but a bit too late, I started another game and the autosave got overwritten even though I have not make a single turn on the new scenario ;-(

can you please share you experience about the overall game performance in windowed mode ? is it much slower ?

No... you must move with arrow keys, and also pressing [RIGHT+LEFT] mouse click allows you to scroll the map.

I'm interested too in performance experienced by people in windowed mode : better or worse ?
