please help having game problems

i just got civ 4 today - was so excited for weeks and weeks and now it doesnt work on either mine or my brothers computer and its doing the same on both

there are no complications with direct-x, i have the latest in 9.0 and it is loading and getting into the games fines, except for some stuttering in the music during the 2ksports and firaxis logos at the beginning

then from there when i select a civ in play now, the leaders faces are not there and all that is seen is eyes and a mouth floating in the background

then, while loading, the movie in the background's video does not correspond to the audio and by the time the guy was finished talking, it was only on the reptiles

then, once the game started its process, clicking on the settler or the warrior took forever but not only that all you could see was them with a black background

we both have windows XP and meet the system requirements, and im not really a tech guru so i would really appreciate any1s input on this scenario - ive been searching but i cant seem to find this problem anywhere so i needed to post

You are not alone. This game is sos seroiusly ****ed up., that only advice i can el you is wait patch.

These are fairly common issues, please refer to the fix-it-list at the top of the threads for possible solutions. The search function should be back up soon. The upcoming patch is what most are waiting for.
