Right click on the shortcut for the game and choose propities. Click on compatibility. If the box for run in compatibility mode is ticked then untick it.
Click on apply and close and try again
If it wasn't try disabling background apps via msconfig and delete temp files
-Click start, run, type msconfig.
-click on startup, then disable all, apply then close
once restarted click start, run, type %temp% then delete everything in the folder
try the game again
