Forgive me if there is message about this already, I read as many threads as I could but did not find anything about this in particular. Playing on patch 1.29

How does on obtain points for Future techs? What are the criteria? I have been a few techs ahead of the other Civs most of the game but have earned any points? Thank you in advance.

Once all known techs has been researched, you start researching future techs.
Generally you are better off using the gold for lux tax and happiness if you want more points than researching future techs thou, since they will give you very little extra score :)

Happiness and total population are the way to go for a biggie score, as a general rule of thumb. Have the King's day celebrated everywhere and you'll get a better deal off from it.

all you get is one-tenth of a point for each future tech

after completing the tech tree I always shift all research to happiness

happy citizens will give you a much bigger point boost

This isnt quite correct:
each future tech adds 1 point * difficultymodifier (1 for chieftain, 2 for warlock, up to 8 for sid) to the internal per turn score the turn you have them...

in other words.. if you manage to comlete future tech 3 in 2050AD, future tech 2 in 2046, future tech 1 in 2042..

Then you have FT1 for 9 turns, FT2 for 5 turns, FT3 for 1 turn

9+5+1 = 15 ... divide by total number of turns (540) and multiply by difficulty..

at regent you would get 15*3/540 = 0.08 extra in score :)

if you managed to get to FT23 with all 4 turn research, then you would get 5.75 points at regent

Out of curiosity, how does scoring work in general?

I mean I know your score is your average score for every turn throughout the game, but are there any modifiers or bonuses for how long it takes or what difficulty its on?

every turn it gives you:
1 point for every land and coast square (sea and osean dont count) inside your cultural borders.
2 points for every happy citizen you have
1 point for every content citizen
1 point for every specialist
(1 point for each future tech known)

this point value is then multiplied by the difficulty modifier (1 for chieftain,2 for warlock, 3 for regent, 4 for monarch,5 for emperor, 6 for demigod and vanilla/ptw deity, 7 for c3c deity, 8 for sid)

The score you see is the avarage of all the turns so far.

if you finish before 2050 (turn 540), then you get a bonus of (2050 - current_year) * difficultymodifier

thank you gyathaar - good info

I guess I never got more than 0.1 because I never research after completing the tech tree

clearly, 2 points per happy citizen is the way to go

Sea squares actually do count for score. They will not count towards the domination limit however. This can be very useful as you can hold infinite sea squares and still stay under the domination limit.

No, they dont.. this was believed atfirst, but later was shown that they dont give points for territory (however they allow extra happy citizens to work them in some cases)
