What is the general thought on accelerated production, I have to admit that I and my friends that play the game with me on the lan are guilty of useing this setting all the time. I have recently become re-addicted to the game and desire beating it on the harder levels and my current game makes me think that I have actually been making the game harder by enableing this option....

Actually I do it so I can actually get to the 2 later ages before time runs out.

I do for all multi player games and tiny war monger games. But since I started playing GOTM/COTM I don't use it so I can sim. the game of the mouth before I start.

I haven't used it, but to me it feels similar as in starcraft where most people used maps with unlimmited resources.
In starcraft, those people were called newbies :D

Of course, it might be very different in Civ since double resources does not defeat the purpose of the game like those maps do in starcraft.

Why wait? I prefer my games to go quicker. It's not like I don't already spend 20 to 40 hours playing each game....

I use it because I would never have any chance of winning before time ran out. However if I win it's at some ridiculous time like 1590 and I win with a spaceship.

i use it cause im too lazy to turn it off, if its on its on if its off its off, it really dosent matter to me, i can win either way lol.

Having accelerated production without accelerated movement was annoying so I shut it off.

For that reason I have made my mod (coming soon... ish) have timescale set to 50% slower instead.

Still testing it, might have to change it a little more.

It just doubles the amount of units in play, which makes the game more tedious and boring. Not to mention unbalanced. Pressing Enter (or "waiting", as you put it) is far less boring.

I am not sure if I like it off or not, with corruption it literaly takes forever to build anything in half of my cities. On the other hand after you defeat the computer it takes them a little longer before thay have another sod to send at you : )

Time running out can be avoided on any level. It says something about playing skills if anything. Pure self research on chieftain/warlord should get you 4 turns per tech as from the middle ages. 1700 AD for a space ship launch should always be possible. Just focus on building markets, banks, libraries, universities (, etc..) and naturally fast expansion and a lot of land improvement. Don't bother about building things like colosseums and cathedrals. These only take time. Just make sure to get luxuries instead.

1590 AD is not ridiculously fast for a Space Ship with accelerated production off. 1100 AD is.

On topic: I hate accelerated production. It unbalances the game because other things are not accelerated.

I never said that, someone else did. Please edit your post and correct your mistake.

it ruins the flow of the game, only time i use it is in multiplayer...
That's exactly the time you shouldn't use anything that completely ruins the flow of the game.
