Wondering how seriously other players take pollution? Is there lasting effects after it's been cleaned up? And to what extent does production influence pollution? I've noticed that when population hits 14-15 it starts to be a problem but not sure about the effects of excessive production.....

If the game is tight, I prefer having a group of 8-10 workers clean up pollution, instead of building solar plants. They can usually do it in one turn, so the next turn they're ready for a new task. 10 workers only cost 10 gold per turn (right?). Moreover, even if there are about 15 toxic warning signs, there is not so much pollution, and never more than one per city and turn.

Yet, many experienced players seem to agree that Hoover dam is the most important wonder. It can save many shields because it makes solar plants more or less unnecessary, and coal plants (the main pollution source) should perhaps only be used to make the Hoover dam itself. I usually try to prepare a strong city next to a river way back in the ancient times.
