the amount of people that live in your civilazation (like in civ I and II)

hmmm, I sure hope so
Civ3 will have more accurate charts and graphs than it's predecessor, so that number will most likely be shown big and framed.

Look at the screnshot of a selcted city in white with the surrounding grey - at the top of the screen is a pop and I think this may be the pop for the whole civ
