Has anyone been experiencing this on their laptops- the screen flickering and/or power surge/spike or almost complete draniage of power almost instantly. I have a feeling it might be something to do with the batteries but I'm not sure.

Sorry - no. I don't even have a lap-top, but it sounds strange. Take it somewhere, and get it tested. I think you can self-test it by fully charging the battery, then leaving it on idle and seeing how long it takes to de-charge. Do this a couple of times to get a consistent number, and see how that compares with the expected performance.

Well,ainwood-that wouldnt work. My dad opened up the batteries and looked at them and without touching anything put them back. I was just explainiing to a cop that it was an accident that the laptop blew up(literaly-boom, turns out that the little microchip on them protects it from power surges) To me it seems that the flickering and draneage of power was the chip failing. Now i'm sulking around since I'm screwed on my finals because 5 out of 6 were on that laptop(Ive got about 12 hours to redo them) and I dont have a laptop so I cant play Civ 3 anymore( my PC sucks- P II-450 Mgh, 16 mb video and 128 ram). I'm thinking on how to get enough money to get a new laptop since at my current allowance earnings it will take about 4 years to get a $1000 laptop. Any financial help would be good.
