I would like to know what would be considered the prefered government for the Persian Civ? I am having a hard time getting one that actually works with them.

Welcome to CFC, GeneralD!

The preferred government for Persia is Monarchy, but that only applies when Persia is AI. Are you playing Persia and expecting some sort of bonus for having the preferred government? If so, there's no such animal for the human player I'm afraid...

Thanks for the reply. I didn't know if using a certain government would help me out or not. I was using the persians and having a hard time deciding which government to go with. At the moment I am using democracy and having money problems. What government would you recomend going with?

Are you playing peacefully or warmongering? If you're warmongering, Monarchy is a really good bet, since you get free unit support based on your towns/cities instead of having to pay the upkeep costs. If you're playing peacefully, Democracy is usually the best. You might need to reduce your number of units, but most likely increase your revenue capacity. Marketplaces are wonderful for this, as they generate extra commerce and increase happiness at the same time. Also, be sure to road any tile being worked by a citizen.

perhaps democracy or monarcy

General: if you have lux's, temples, cathedrals, maybe a sistine chapel and a police station or two in your big cities you can war forever on Republic, so it's a good one to stay in if you are Persian as they suffer from multiple turns of anarchy when switching governments. :)

Question how do you get a second police station, lol.

Ok wise guy ;) I meant one police station in a big city or two

I have actually waged a rather long Persian war under democracy. I like it because the increased worker speed, added to the industrious trait, makes a great late-game war machine. The trick is to let the enemy declare war on you, which lessens war weariness, and to have plenty of luxuries before the war.
