Hi,

I made a scenario of present-day Benelux (=Netherlands + Belgium + Luxemburg) for C3C. You can download it here.

I took the map by MaisseArsouye and edited it a bit. For example, I made Flevoland, cleared nearly all swamps in Holland, redistributed some resources, made sure Rotterdam and Antwerp would border sea, and cut off England and a bit of France. Furthermore, I made the bits of France and Germany that are on the map a terrain type 'Foreign Territory' which produces nothing, so the civs won't colonize there. I also changed some rivers a bit.

All provinces of the Netherlands and Belgium are seperate civs. With the addition of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, this makes 24 civs total.

Almost all towns greater than 60000 citizens are on the map. For the provinces with very few towns of this size, I also put some smaller ones on the map, but not too many, I didn't want to make them too strong. As a result, southern Belgium is quite empty so some colonization will take place.

The names of the towns are all in the language spoken there, with the exception of Friesland, for which I forgot to do that... sorry Frisians, you can edit it in if you want:). Oh, and it's 'Brussel/Bruxelles' and not 'Bruxelles/Brussel' since 'Brussel' is earlier in the alphabet:p.

Irrigation, Mining, Roads and Railroads are based on maps from my atlas. Same thing for resources, but I was quite generous with them. Still, there's not enough for everyone to make it more interesting. I put some resources near harbor towns like Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Antwerp to represent import.

I would have liked to edit in diplomacy but it appears this can only be done by means of locked alliances which is no fun at all. Or I could make save games for every civ and then edit in the diplomacy for every save game but that is a bit too much boring work for my taste.

The scenario is not perfect, but I think it can be fun, especially if you live in the Benelux region.

EDIT: The map looks like this:

Hi,
I live there and downloading right now.
Will let you know how it looks, no screenshot btw?
Nice to see my region in a scenario :p

Very accurat placing of the towns (sad to see that my little town didn't make it :p )
Once thing, perhaps you can put in a little bit more Hills and mountains, perhaps mountains can be at the highest regions (+- 700m ) in that way the map would look even greater.
A fun thing to play anyhow!!!

Thanks! What town do you live in?

Hmm. I didn't change anything about hills and mountains on MaisseArsouye's map. They were quite accurate already. But what do you suggest? Which region should have more hills? As for mountains: I agree with you that there should be more mountains in the Liège region, which has some of the highest points on the map. I will add them when I have time.

The problem with hills is that they give a lot of production which can give the southern civs a huge advantage.

I live in Bilzen, a town close to Hasselt.

I agree that the hills give a bonus, but it is more accurate.
Now you have to choose if you go for realisme or gameplay ;-)

I enjoy it anyways :D
