Citizens of Fanatikos,

We are on the verge of taking a huge leap forward in our government structure. In 4 turns, we will have the ability to centralize power within each of our five city-states, which shall secure our commercial future for ages to come. We will find ourselves able to enter the Republic.

However, the timing of this advance has recently been compromised by a recent declaration of war by one Xerxes of Persia. The severity of this threat is lessened by the considerable distance between our two nations, as well as the fact that France and Rome currently provide a buffer zone from the meager Persian forces. Our greatest threat is the risk of one of these buffer nations joining the Persian cause.

Another risk is enduring a period of anarchy during the uncertainty of this conflict. We can either make long-lasting moves to ensure our safety (aka 20 turn alliance with France and/or Rome), or ride out the cold war and hope it can be resolved peacefully in 6-8 turns.

-----

That said, I'd like to set a timeline for our future actions so we don't have to cut the next game session prematurely at 4 turns. Here is what I have in mind for our advance to Republic.

Now

1. Workers begin to optimize future tiles in Olympus for preparation of Mausolleum
2. Temple in queue for Styx.
3. Military units from Civantonia and Augean Stables.
4. All cities prepare worker build to coincide with city growth spurt (when possible).
5. Optimize Styx for Worker pump.

Turn 4

1. Discover Republic
2. Set Science to 0%; investigate increase in luxuries at 10-20%

Turn 8 {----Conditional----}

1. War with Persia ends
2. Set builds in Civantonia and Augean Stables to Temple

Turn 10

1. Mausolleum of Mausollos built in Olympus
2. Begin Anarchy period
3. Workers continue to improve as much land as possible
4. Cities with stored shields in excess of 10 at this time can build immediate Worker, to be rejoined to city after Anarchy period is over

Turn 15-17

1. Anarchy ends and we become Republic
2. Test Lux rate -- set at 20-30% based on city happiness optimization
3. Send 3 workers to join Olympus
4. Temple build for all so we can lower lux rate (or further increase population)
5. Save gold for possible rush build of Markets/Granaries/Temples, or for upgrades

-----

That's it for starters. I am hoping that during this time frame, we will also receive Currency from the Great Library (France already has it).

This is a rough outline of how I would like to see the events of the next few turns unfold. The only wild card would be an untimely alliance against us from France or Rome. Please discuss this plan and feel free to add ideas to it.

Respectfully,

Donovan Zoi

It's very risky to choose either the first or the other options. We will have to pay for an agreement with France and Rome, and that may compromise our income OR we can have a cold war with Persia and risk the other civs to declare war on us. Let us first check how many gold or techs the French and the Romans want for war with Persia. If they want too much, then we will have to risk a cold war. But if they want one tech and a few gold, then I would make an alliance with them and throw Rome and France against the weak persians. Soon Persia would be wiped out.

There's already a Persia war thead available, Civlord. I am primarily looking for opinions on my Republic timeline here.

Let's not turn this into a second Persia thread. It is of secondary importance to this discussion. Thanks!

Sorry, DZ. But the war with Persia is certainly important to our future government. If we have a cold war, swithching to Republic early will be risky. But if we can throw Rome and France against Persia, then we can switch calmly to the new government.

Sorry DZ, I did not see very much respect for the Priapos Harbor, to ship out spare wine for trades, one turn after the Mausolleum is built. Are you deliberately and pigheadedly trying to make a point against me here, I have asked you directly. All I ask for is to complete harbor in 11 turns so we can start trading our two extra wines for other luxes.
Why have you ignored this issue in all your threads? Are you angry fot the missing library?

Do other civs have harbors yet? I don't see any (granted, there are many cities we don't see).

I'm not sure we'll have the extra workers to join (of course, that depends on the governors' queues), but there will be more time to consider that later. Anyways, the timeline seems reasonable.

Not at all, Provolution. You may build your Harbor, and depending what other nation has one up and running we may be able to use your trade idea. I didn't include it on the list because I couldn't predict the timeline on such an event.

I was only trying to raise broad-reaching issues, and must assure you that my non-mention of Priapos was unintentional. Hopefully, you will take comfort in the fact that my plan calls for the acquisition of Marketplaces once we have the wherewithal to build them.

Also, my mention of specific worktasks does not mean I am going to deny city work where it is needed. I only wanted to outline the work tasks of national importance. It is quite likely you will get to keep both of your workers until you have at least 5 tiles prepared, though I haven't determined that yet.

Would anyone object to this way of drawing two anarchies?

*Discover the republic.
*Hit the "What's the big picture?" option.
*Head over to the domestic advisor and begin our revolution.
*Click through the advisor to see how many turns we have left. If it's a "good" draw (Four turns or less) be :D .
*Upon leaving, our advisor will ask us if we'd like to change governments. If we got a bad draw, select the "revolt" option to get a new number of turns (for better or for worse).

Exploit? Smart?
