Problem running on WinME

I know it's not supported but is anyone running on Windows ME?

The first time I loaded the game (unpatched) it worked OK for a while. I was able to do all the normal game functions. All of a sudden it froze and I had to recycle power to get the PC back. I restarted and loaded in my last save and it did it again.

I reinstalled the game and got the 1.52 patch and installed that too.

Now it crashes during start up. It looks like it's at the Init XML stage. The error message I get says there is a problem with MSVCR71.dll.

Also, Norton disk doctor is now telling me that Install Shield's DotNetInstaller.exe program is missing file mscoree.dll. I doubt that's crashing Civ IV but I suspect Civ IV is somehow responsible for its disappearance.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

norrecan

Well other than upgrading Windows Marketing Edition, the only thing I can suggest off the top of my head is to get some more system memory. but I somehow doubt that will help right away.
