Problem with civ 4 BTS, constant flashing and flickering of graphics

Hello all.

Was wondering if anyone could help me. I just recently installed Civilization 4 Beyond the Sword. I even patched it upto date and the installing worked fine.

Now i am trying to load the game and when i do i get this constant flickering and flashing of everything... Im not the greatest technical computer guy, i just enjoy playing this game when im off work. I can still load a game but the flickering is so bad, i cant really play and enjoy it.

Is it a problem with my graphics card? is there anyway i can fix this without getting a new card? i am living in Kenya right now, in a rural town so its near impossible for me to get a new graphics card and have it installed on my laptop. My computer is only 2 months old, 3 gigs of ram. unfortunately i do not know what card i have... (anyway i can check what card i have?)


Like i said i am not the greatest computer technical guy but any help would be greatly appreciated. Im also on Windows 7, not sure if that is what is causing the problems...

Please get back to me as soon as you can, i really want to play my favorite game again...

Make sure you have the latest Direct X installed first (try the Microsoft site here or just Google "Direct X downloads")

Install and reboot, then try it. A couple other posts on this page describe similar problems so you're not alone. Good luck!

Make sure you check for any new drivers. If you have the latest drivers already, you could try rolling it back to the previous one, some people have found that with certain cards and certain drivers that can help until a newer new driver comes out.
