Problems Downloading and Opening Saves

I have downloaded several high score save games and opened them in the past, but now whenever I try to open them I get the following error message:
DataIO operation System Error: DATE
DataIO operation System Error: PLGI
DataIO operation System Error: CNSL
Then an ERROR READING FILE error message and the file does not open. However, for some reason Moonsinger's Maya Sid 88k milk run will work, possibly because the game has already been retired? I have Civ3Complete v1.22.

I just searched this forum for 'DataIO operation System Error: PLGI'. Not much is available, but it seems like games saved in 1.00 (not sure if vanilla, PTW or Conquests) cannot be opened by the fully patched versions of those games.

Didn't try Google.

That would make sense. In Vanilla there was patch 1.17 or 1.21 which made a change that ended up causing saves from before that patch unloadable with versions later than that patch. I don't think that PTW had a patch like that, but Conquests did with the removal of Radio, I think it was. So it could be that he's getting the error from a pre-patch version that's causing the error out.
