I was really fortunate, I downloaded the patch, and had just loaded up Civ3 to start playing when I came back here to check out a quick reference and found that the patch was bad and there was a new one. Since I run XP, prolly saved me some grief.

Anyway, I am specifically troubled by the two new options in Preferences:
"Ask for Build Orders after Unit Construction"
"Always Start Building Previously Built Unit"

I have tried both out and neither seems to work. :/ I started a brand new game after the patch. Has anyone else had any joy with these?

Also, I've been trying out a new mod I've been building (in a seperate game), and I came across something interesting. Apparently, the AI doesn't pay attention to the "Shunned Government" option in the editor. I created two new civilizations and two new governments to go with them. Each civ had the other's favored as their shunned, but in the middle of the game, I investigated both civs, and discovered them using the wrong government. Anyone else notice this?

I'm playing with the first if those options turned on, and the second off - and it always seems to ask me what next (even when processing a queue I created - which I think is good.

It seems to me they should be mutually exclusive (think about it - you want them to carry on with same as last or you want them to ask you).

The way I figure it is that you now really have 3 options:

1) Let the program determine what to build next (based on your governors options and/or your recent requests to other cities) - for this, turn both options off.

2) Get program to stop and ask you before continuing - turn first option on only.

3) Get program to continue with same as last build for that city - turn second option on.

Turning both on at once, doesn't seem to make much sense.

The options both started out enabled for me after patching and starting a new game. I was more interested in the building same unit option, so that is the one I was trying, but it doesn't appear to work for me. Now that you said that, I am not completely positive that I tried just the first option. I think I did, but since it works for you I'll try it out again. :) I know the second option is not working for me. By itself or with both selected.
