I didn't want to hijack someone's thread, but I'm wondering how effective graineries are with agricultural civs. Would playing an agricultural civ make building the pyramids a lesser priority?

I wouldn't say it makes it less of a priority, just a bigger bonus if you get it.

I'm no expert on all the math in figuring out which produces more food/which makes expansion easier, but I'd imagine that coupling the Agricultural trait with the Pyramids would make for the best possible combination of early expansion

Piramids is the best wonder around, combined with the strongest trait, agricultural make a vey powerfull combo indeed.

Building the Pyramids shouldn't usually be a high priority, actually. At 400 shields, the investment is very large for the Ancient Age, and at Emperor and up, you may not get there first, anyway. The AI loves to build them. Generally, I only build the Pyramids if I get a SGL.

Capturing the Pyramids, on the other hand, is always a priority. In combination with the Agricultural trait, owning the Pyramids can seal the win early. Yes, it may force you to micromanage in the late game, but it is worth it for the early burst, IMO.

The Pyramids are a very large & powerful investment, given how early in the game they become available. Coupled with agri, you can achieve impressive growth, but you've got to be prepared to deal with the happiness issue. I don't think being agri makes the Pyramids any less of a priority though. If you get an SGL, I usually want them regardless of whether I'm agri or not. If I get them, it usually means an earlier win.
