Question about diplomacy.....

Can you engage in diplomatic agreements, if only YOUR civ has the required tech? Or does the ai civ have to also have the required tech?

For instance, once I get navigation in c3c, can i trade maps with civs that don't have navigation yet?

good question.. never bothered to notice..

i think

1. if you have an embassie in his/her territory, both can trade that maybe
2. both need that tech if your conducting the trade.

i could be wrong but see ive also noticed if you have the tech to trade maps
and they dont.. they can somehow offer you their map anyway... i think

again.. didnt notice that much. didnt care either...

You can enter agreements if only one civ has the required techs. This is true for trading maps and communications, as well as ROPs, alliances, embargos, and MPPs.

But to trade strat. resources, both civs need the tech to see the resource.
