Hey there.
If I attach a flame effect to the BIP L Hand of a Unit, the flame does not show up where the unit is, it behaves like it is always behind the model. so, you can see it, if it is not occupied by any part of the unit mesh itself...

Any help on how to actually make it appear in front of the unit (while still being "rigged" (moving according) to the BIP L Hand node).

I know it works with Grenadier animation, as the grenade (if replaced by the flame effect) somehow shows up in front of the unit. but I cant reproduce it on another unit, not using grenadier animation :/

cheers

How did you attach that flame ? Normally you would use a dummy, and link the effect to that dummy. The effect should inherit the position and orientation from that dummy.

i´m not sure if there is an solution if you want to attach it in the Bip, even vanilla units have effect nodes / dummies outside the bip and this nodes are animated (eg i remember the jetfighter afterburner or the weapon effect dummies in the cavalry nif).

I think the "easiest" solution would be to create a new node outside the Bip three (as child of MD NonAccum), attach the flame there and move this node so that it fits the BIP L Hand (or did you tried this already and it didn´t worked?)

In the Grenadier unit one flame effect is a billboard and the effect dummy for the flying grenade is outside the Bip (the 'Hand Grenade' is made invisible between 0.2667 and 0.3)

Some standrad models do have moving effects, rigged to other armature, so it shouldn't be impossible.

yes i know  but i see no structure why sometimes an effect is played in front of the model or behind the model (and iir and understand correct is the flame a particel object, so it attached as object and if attached to the bip the flame is only displayed behind the mesh - think i had the same with the flying nightmare)

Hmm... now when you mention it, i think i had some trouble with Attachables (as opposed to Effects) being centred on the model, instead of appearing at the dummy... It was only damage smocke, so i did not really go into detail...

:crazyeye: how i could mix this, i think my biggest problem makers so far were also attachables (great person red glow - FF fighter engine glow)
