I bought Civ2 many years ago when I got my own PC. Like 1998-99. I Found it for like 10 bucks in K-mart and it was in a double cd case. You know what I mean. It has this image as its cover.

My question is, was there supposed to be a second disk in this case? I only have one and it says ultimate version. I just always have been puzzled by this. The case currently holds the Civ2 disk and AC.

My question is asking because I seem to have the very basic version of the game.

There was a version of Civ2 that came with a second CD, which had scenarios collected from the Internet. But I don't know if they did that with vanilla Civ or just MGE.

Yes, I bought the exact same game (seems around the same time too) Mine promiced two CD's, and I got them too...both the same (really, 2 identical copies of the CD) Well, luckily, they were both the main program. Odd, eh?

And yes, mine was the basic version too.

The "ultimate version" mentioned in the subtitle refers to it being the latest release in the Civilization game series back in 1996, being the successor to the best-selling game Civilization 1, not to it being the ultimate version of Civ2.

The ultimate version of Civ2, by name at least, would be the "Ultimate Civilization II Classic Collection," which was the European version of the "Multiplayer Gold Edition." That was the version of Civ2 that added multiplayer, and included all the previously released add-on scenarios.

The ultimate version of Civ2 by meaning, i.e. being the last released version of it, would be "Test of Time."
