How can you fix it after you played a scenario, when you go to start new game and one of the units you come across....in 3300 BC is a howitzer? How do you go back to the original units, or is there a good set of units to download that would be in order of when theyd be discovered....I know which one this is from I was playin a Gulf War scenario, now I got Iraqi and American units all over the place and im at 2000 somethin BC....its kinda funny but Id much rather go back to normal units for the time period im in. If you can help me thank you.

I may not have all the answer but it gets me a post count.
Check the file rules.txt I believe this is the main file changed for scenarios and you will have to put the original rules.txt back.
Hope I have that right and hope that helps

happen to know where id be able to get the rules.txt file from? or would i have to re-install off the cd saving the files i want saved such as scn files, map files and that sort of stuff?

Not exactly sure which version I have but I believe it is the original CIV2 release.
If this doesn't work and you cannot find it on the CD then maybe someone here can post the one you need if they are diferent in CIV2 versions, I don't know.

so from what im understanding then, (i've never gotten into the bits and pieces of how the fiels work) its the rules.txt that controls what and when the units will come into play during a game? Not just the units.gif or units.bmp files? If I need one of those where can i get those originals? Cuz anytime i click on the cd rom it goes to the game....

It sounds like autoplay is kicking in when you try to get to the CD. You can try to right click on the CD, then select Explore to get to the files.

Typically, you should install scenarios in a separate folder from the main game. Scenarios have many files other than rules.txt that are changed, so fixing that one may not fix it all.

You may have to re-install the game to get it back to 'normal', then re-install your scenario into a separte folder to keep them separated.
