Ok, I've played vanilla civ on regent level several times, and its getting to the poin its not much fun. I use the greeks, and can usually keep a tech lead, or at least parity through the early middle ages, then I pull away, and get to modern times way before the ai.
After several blowout wins like this with the greeks, vanilla civ3, on regent, i decided to move up.
So, i went and bought conquests, and started playing it, on monarch. But, it seems like the resources (both strategic, and luxury) are waaaaaaay more scarce than they were in vanilla civ3 on regent. Is this a factor of conquests, or is it the difficulty level, or neither and I just got stuck on a resource barren chunk of the map. There's three civs on my island, me, india, and england, and there's only ONE (as far as i can tell) source of horses on the whole continent. It seemed like in my previous games (vanilla, regent) there were more abundant resources.
Plus, I'm struggling to even keep my empire afloat. I didn't think the jump from regent to monarch was supposed to be this big......
