Question about VP obelisks...

Let's say for instance I was playing the Fall of Rome scenario. I destroy 8 cities of eastern Rome and they disappear. This leaves all those VP obelisks unattended. Now when I went to resettle the areas, Sassanids had placed units on the obelisk squares. I settled NEXT to the obelisk instead and forced the units out without starting a conflict. But my city isn't ON the obelisk. What I want to know is, do I get VP for having an obelisk in my territory or do I need a unit on it? Do I even have to put city near it? Thanks in advance.

Fortify the VP tiles. You don't need a city there, but of course you can boot others from the VP if you build a city next to the obelisks.

:)

Alright cool, that's what I did. Had I known this before I beat Fall of Rome, however, it would have made the win much easier. Heh.

If you have enough workers - build fortress and plant forest (if possible) on the VP tiles for the defense bonus.
