I dont think this is the correct thread, but im not sure if anyone will notice this if its in any other forum.

Is it at all possible to load a map from one mod to another? I mean i love the Eurasia map created by Strombringer but i want to use 18 civs. I also want to use civilizations that are in civarmy 1994s' next level mod pack, which features 15 or 16 more civs however many he created.

I know I know you want this and you want that, but maybe im missing something here. Am i just gonna have to recreate Stormbringers map myself for my custom game?

Thanks!

I also cannot find a forum for world builder questions...glad you started this thread. :goodjob:

Q. Has anybody noticed how on normal (temperate) climate the wold builder creates WAY to much desert? :sad:

Q.can this be fixed in the XML's?

Any help would be apreciated.

Wrong forum guys. Click on the link that says

Civilization Fanatics' Forums > CIVILIZATION IV > Civ4 - Creation & Customization > Civ4 - User-created Maps

on the top of the page and post it there.

@immortal:

Yes, that's possible. Make a copy of Stormbringer's map file and add the players and starting locations. See this tutorial to find out how.

@Otterbear:
1. Nope, haven't noticed that. :)
2. Can be fixed, not in the XML but in the python map scripts I think. (Well, not really sure. The pc I'm on now hasn't got Civ4 installed so I can't check)

What if the map you want to use does not exist in a mod, say you just downloaded it from this creation and customization forum? How do you access the contents of that map?

Thanks so much Junuxx!

Oh, the map file is really all you need. But instead of placing it in the mods folder, place it in the public maps folder :)

Dear Aeon, after put the post about the wrong forum, you must also report it to mods.

The map file as in the "world builder save file"? Or is there supposed to be a PY file for each map? I have already placed the "world builer save" file in the public maps folder, but whenever I load the "next level mod", and then load the Eurasia map, i can still only use 15 specific civs, not the custom 18 that i want. :confused:

Thanks agian Junuxx:)

Yes, I meant the worldbuildersave. The py files are more like scripte how to generate each map type. You don't need these to actually play on a map.

What changes did you make to the worldbuildersave file?

Thanks Aeon221, sorry about the off topic post :blush: I will go to the link you so kindly gave.:)

Hey, at least Rufus got to use his cool Gif anyways.:)

PS: Thanks also for the information about the .PY file. You can edit them to get rid of desert(useless) tiles, and I did. However Im not sure if this effects the oil resource placement or not. I changed all desert tiles to grassland.

I didnt make any changes. I was trying to figure out how i can add civs to a map scenario. Whenever I load different maps from the scenario option on the main menu, each map has a different number of civs that are playable. So i want to use the "next level mod" created by "civarmy s 1994", which has like 16 new civs, and play on A map that only allows 15 to play all together. How can i modify the map so that i can play 18 civs?

I know how to add civs to a mod, but worldbuildersaves dont have XML sheets do they? So my questions is how can you change the number of civs playable for a specific map?

Even if this is not possible i appreciate your time Junuxx, Thanks!:)

WorldBuilderSaves are pretty similar to XML. The biggest difference is that it's tab delimited instead of <tagged>. It's easy. Have you checked the tutorial I linked to a few posts ago?

Basically, it's as follows.
*Open the worldbuildersave in wordpad
*Look at the stuff between the BeginTeam/EndTeam and BeginPlayer/EndPlayer signal words.
* For your map, I guess 15 are filled in and 3 are basically empty. Fill these and you have all 18 players.
* Save the file!
* Fire up Civ and have fun

Hope that helps :)
