I seem to be having an issue with Quick Combat... not entirely dissimilar with the issue reported here:
https://forums.civfanatics.com/threads/quick-combat-offense-is-always-on.634761/

In my game options, Quick Combat (Offense) and Quick Combat (Defense) are both unticked.

Quick Combat (Offense) works in both modes. If unticked, I get attacking animations for each single unit that I attack with. If ticked, I get quick combat (direct to combat results). So far so good.
Quick Combat (Defense) is unresponsive. Whether ticked or unticked, I get Quick Combat (Defense) enabled by default.

The latter is very annoying, because I've entered my first defensive war (Denmark and Persia both attacked me :)) and can't figure out how each battle is going. I am forced to go into the Combat log to find each individual fight to see how it went.

Also notice in my menu options, I've also got Show Enemy Moves enabled, but that also doesn't seem to be responsive. Hasn't bothered me too much so far, but the defensive Quick Combat is bothering me quite a great deal.

Any solution to this? Is Quick Combat enabled by default to save memory?
If so, can I manually disable it if my system can take it? Like... are these settings saved in some kind of .ini file that I can change, or is it hardcoded?

Thanks for all the great work. Enjoying the mode immensely so far :goodjob:

I'm not sure how this was left or if it was intentional. There was a point where we strongly advised it because of graphic crashes. I thought we overcame those tho.

Show Enemy Moves shows every individual unit move, taking a second or more each. If you can see a lot of moves, this adds 5 minutes to your turn times, and an hour is not impossible when huge stacks are moving.

Yes I've experienced that during regular Civ4 lategames, especially when I cranked up espionage and I could see the whole map.

That said, Show Enemy Moves only shows you units of a civ you're at war with... not every individual unit move. There's not a whole lot of those usually, and certainly not right now in my game. I'm still in Ancient times, at war with only 2 civs, I can see limited terrain in enemy territory (I got a spy + an Ambusher lurking) and there's 2 SoDs in my territory. Showing enemy moves would help.

But can understand how in C2C, prehistoric times (with all those animals running around) would be a big drag on system resources. So while I generally prefer being given a choice, I don't mind the option being forcibly turned off.

If this is by design could you point out if there's an .ini file I can tweak, in order to turn Quick Combat (Defense) off ?

I'd want to make a few tests. If it causes a system crash, then obviously I'll turn it back off.

No... it would be in the dll.

[EDIT] I should have pointed out which C2C version I'm using. Added that below and to the 1st post.

It's version 40.1 (that was last updated 12 Feb 2020)
