Rangers Acquire Kovalev

Biased on WHAT? That I personally don't like hockey? You say it like it's a BAD thing, when you spew crap like your strobe light comment. (That's a good idea BTW, maybe more people would tune in if there would be some excitement in the games) :D

I appreciate the fact that people fly around on skates, and it takes athletic ability to do that. That these guys do what they do is a marvel, I just don't care enough to watch it on T.V. because it's boring to me, much like baseball is to you. (But which franchise makes more money, the Maple Leafs or the Blue Jays?)

You are now fading into the "Americans are boorish" crap I expected when I posted. Why is it then that the Canadian teams are all heading south if it's SOOOO LOVED by Canadian people?

Plenty of Americans like hockey, I'm just not one of them.

Why get so defensive about it anyway? You claim that hockey is so great, but STILL refuse to see that it doesn't hold mass appeal.

As for small market T.V., I think that this is a pretty lame argument. They don't have a major TV contract because not enough people will watch on a NATIONAL level.

And the Expos and Twins aren't running out of money, they are/were owned by owners who want to turn a profit more than they want to field a competitive team. The Expos were a pretty popular team, and if the strike didn't cut them down in '94, they might have won the World Series that year. And they probably would STILL be in Montreal ten years from now if that would have happened.

"doesn't hold mass appeal"

Say that to 31 million Canadians who hold the game at near religion status. Many a time have I called in sick to watch or go to the game.

You continue to say that you think hockey is boring but you fail to give us reasons why. Is it beacuse they skate around shooting rubber at 100 mph checking each other and pulling moves that require more skill than that required to catch and throw a ball?

Let's put it this way: at least in hockey they play more than ten minutes a game.

And the reason hockey cannot hold a national us tv contract is beacause of the exponentially increasing number or ******** basketball fans coming out the ghetto who can't afford two pieces of equipment.

As I said, hockey is great went played well. The regular season is mostly defensive crap (for about 23-24 of the 30 teams that aren't rich or good enough). Regular season NHL hockey isn't very interesting if you compare it to the playoffs. That's when the players aren't playing for the check but for the cup. I can fully understand if someone who didn't grow up with the game cannot stand the level of play of the regular season. As for me, I'll watch anything ;)

Well maybe the games you watched included Philly, New Jersey, Minnesota, neutral-zone-trap specialized teams. Go watch anything featuring Chicago, Colorado, Edmonton, Vancouver - you'll love hockey.

I think with one less player, things would be alot better...

You would reduce payroll, which would save a few "down in the dumps" teams.

You also would make the game more exciting, by allowing more open ice, and the ability to utilize some of the speed and skating skills that some of those guys have.

You also would end up with more fierce collisions, due to the fact that the guys would have more ice to work with.

All in all, it would do wonders for the sport. IMHO that is...

For that you get rid of the red line that causes to many 2-line pass. I too would like to see a team made of three lines of four players but the union is NEVER going to allow this to happen.
