My computer blew a mobo so I'm installing it on a brand new machine running windows 7.

It started all right, installed steam, logged in. Steam update. Installed Direct X 9 and 10. Then it did this 'creating disk cache for install' it did that for like 10 minutes, got to 100% then just hung there for like 10 more minutes. So (probably stupidly) I cancelled it. But then I opened steam did a 'verify local files' its says everything is there. Now its updating. Its been updating for like 30+ minutes now and it hasn't even hit 1% yet. Okay did you notice what was missing? It never seemed to install from the DVD. I think its just downloading the whole game.
How do you get this thing to install from the DVD? I don't get why the files verified, I don't think there is even a Firaxis folder anywhere on my drive.

Help!

I tried uninstalling it then reinstalling. Not sure how you can uninstall a game that's not acutally on your HD. It's definetly not asking if I have it on DVD and seems to just be downloading the whole game? What do I do?

Technically now, your DVD copy is outdated, since there have been two patches. Installing it from DVD now may be a mute point. I would first though do what theJ said and make sure steam is working and you can log onto steam online fine. If accessing your steam account is working just fine then you may just have to wait for the download. Patching the game at this point may take awhile.
