What about settling these 4 cities?

I agree with all of those cities on principal, but I'd like to wait until we take the German cities, so I can see how badly additional cities will effect our maintenance situation.

Same here.

I see these are all grouped in one region. Any other regions where cities might be built?

Being civ-less for the next week, I'd be interested in the analysis of others on which sites give us the most value, for the purpose of helping to set a priority on which one first.

The yellow city needs a many clearing on jungle, i see there no profit.
city 1 has no food but the cow in south, thats not enough
city 2 has good tiles after the first expanding
city 3 i 'd transfer EEN, then you have 2 seatiles (3 Food with lighthouse) and the iron in the north

I would initially only close the coastal tiles, so no overseas power comes in, except for that, we should wait a little bit.

I agree that this isn't a real short term plan, but more of a longer term consideration.

Yellow City: It will make an excellent cottage city when the jungle is cleared, and remember, we only need to clear some jungle to start making it profitable. And I think we could spare some workers long-term, as many of our core cities are already improved.

City 1: The city will work the cow, the silk, the horse and coastal tiles. With a lighthouse, this city will be able to grow quite big. It will never be a really important city, but as has been mentioned by Provolution, if we don't settle this site, foreign powers might.

City 2: This city can support quite a lot of cottages too.

City 3: Agreed, and it will block a larger coastal region too.

I am not sure.

Before speak about the cities themselves, I must say I believe to be our wise
military Commanders and our troops the "sealers" of our homeland. Haven't you
enough troops to protect our land? Please, ask troops, not cities.

I see any,and all, of the proposed cities, as reasonable ones; not great, not bad.
If more cities to settle on our continent, then yes, good choice of sites.

But, the goal is...? To increase pop for a domination, or almost, without the
need of far lands? To avoid at most state property? To shrink at most ground
units here and build a very strong navy and go to the islands and other
continent to invade and raze more than conquest?

Last point:would you like these new cities in a row or slowly one by one?

Best regards,

As far as "securing our land," the Idea is to use cities on the coast to close in our borders... So any settler parties from the other continent will have to enter our territory in order to get to unclaimed land within our borders. Thus we can deny them passage, preventing them from landing.

Otherwise the only way to prevent them from landing a settling party is to actually attack the Transport before they land, or the party itself after it lands. Both alternatives require a declaration of war. And if we're going to have War with someone on the other continent, I would prefer it to be on our terms, and not be forced into it too early due to a hole in our borders.

Falcon02 has seen the light, and that should be our settlement policy for the next 40 turns.

Sure, territorial coherence is always an advantage.
The question is to balance advantage with price.
Nothing against, but please do not ask later for stop grow,
military build and research, to care the big maintenance.
Best regards,

The evil Incans have mastered the technology of Astronomy. I suggest starting coastal resettlement ASAP. Getting an Incan colony would be a nasty nuisance.

I have been calling for this settlement program for quite some time. Hopefully someone would take this seriously.

I would have started it as DP when Germany was destroyed and we could bump science by 10%, but thought the citizens might get upset to be left out of the city location planning. ;)

Time to poll this topic people, according to DaveShack's GPIT summary the Inca's are inbound with a settler.

I know, Provolution. Sometimes issues progress slow though.

EDIT: can someone tell me how fast we can produce settlers and seal off the coast? Starting with the proposed city closest to the Incan Galleon.
