(Re)settlement

I think starting out with Grants original city southeast is priority, I think that is already in the pipeline (EA, NOTA or NOTB). That will seal the coast between EA and Clam Cove. Build theatre (thanks to "useless" drama) to get needed culture).

For the distance Clam Cove-Frankfurt, we press in another city. That settler is already being made in Munich.

For the distance Tartar - Dortmund, we press in another city again, that can be produce in any German occupied city this turnchat.

3 cities will effectively seal off the coast, and yes, we will keep Dortmund per Poll. I also say we produce 2-3 settlers and send on the galleons with the 2 new riflemen each and a worker each, and get remaining islands asap.

We need to squeeze in another city between Clam Cove and City 1, or we get visitors landing.

I think a city right south of the iron tile (once the iron belonging to long dead Essen), would be best to block that coastal tile.

[22:40] <DaveShack> woke golden battlewagons (chariot) and moved inside borders, can temporary garrison in city#1
[22:41] <DaveShack> reminds me to check name of city #1, should have had a naming poll by now
[22:43] <DaveShack> City #1 renamed to Clam Cove

And do you promise never more speak about maintenance?

Best regards,

Who, me? We are now an economic powerhouse, which we wasn't for a while ago, so not setting is not an option. We need that coast, now.

City 1 is the city east of EA originally proposed by Grant, not me and Methos (Clam Cove). City 1 has been a placeholder for all new cities. Maybe we should change that practice and increase the number per new city for reference.

oh, sorry about that.

The "city3" proposed by post#1 in this thread should be moved, as others have mentioned. The proposed site would allow a huge number of cottages, but they're not that good unless you also build bank/library/observatory etc. The iron would allow those to be built in a reasonable time.

I am in favor of moving it 1 NE so that it has the iron barely in reach of its fat cross. I don't think it needs to be settled on the coast, since there is plenty of room to put grassland cottages in its territory (and work lake tiles as well). I don't think it would benefit much from a lighthouse and I don't think we need the city as a navy production city.

proposed "city1" should be settled where proposed. Cow+horse will give it good production and food.

The proposed jungle city seems OK but it would swipe the rice from Pisae. It might be best to keep Pisae as a stronger city rather than weaken it (less food=less ability to work those grassland-hill-mines) in favor of a city that would eventually have mature cottages, library, bank, and observatory.... but not for a long time. By the time that citysite could become really useful, we may have won the game already.

Also, I don't think we have to worry too much about foreigners settling our land. We don't want them to have a chance at good spots (think cows+horses) but if they get a city that will soon be choked by our culture and only have 5 workable tiles with no special resources.... who cares.

And there's always the option to let em settle a relatively weak city and then destroy/capture the city when we are ready.

Another thing to keep in mind: war with Incas over a petty thing might be a good idea. No war weariness accrues for being at war during a time no actual combat occurs. But it will cause the incas to shift their focus to military, which will slow down their tech pace.

If they bring a fight to us on our turf, on our continent, we won't get much war weariness at all (see the war weariness article) and we don't have to bring it to their turf if we don't want to.

On the other hand, finishing the planned war against romans before taking out whatever fledgling city gets founded on our shore seems like a good idea.
