Reached Harmony level 13, but can't build Mind Flower

I'm getting used to BE, as a replacement addiction for G&K. I won my second game by building a Mind Flower and I wanted to do that again in my current game.

However, I can't build a Mind Flower, it just doesn't show up in the production selector. I've reached level 13 Harmony, and for as far as I know that should be enough.

What do I miss? Do I need a specific technology, resource or anything else? I can't exactly remember how I won my previous game, but I thought that the Mind Flower simply appeared in the production selector once I reached level 13.

Ah thanks, I see. Have to build 2 Alien Preserves, for which I still need the Alien Lifeforms technology.

Dang, hope I'm still in time to beat Polystralia, he's already got 50 points for the Emancipation Victory...

No, that's an optional quest. To see the techs you need for the victory go to the victory tab, these steps are not listed in the questlog.

Ah! Thanks :) I need a Lasercom Satellite. That's going to cost another 7 turns to research Orbital Networks.

Haven't really found my way in the Tech Tree yet, but practice makes perfect ;)

Lasercom Satellite is for Emancipation and Exodus victories.

For Mind Flower/Transcendence, there are 3 techs you need to research. I don't remember their names, but they are in the victory quest log.

Just found out about Nanorobotics :( Another 13 + 16 turns of research.

I don't think I'll have my Mind Flower ready in time now. Thanks for the answers though, I now know I should pay a lot more attention to the quest and victory screens. That would probably have guided me to the right techs a lot earlier.

^^I've done it, and I still sometimes don't pay enough attention to the victory screen and what is needed :(

What's the reason for not mentioning all the required techs in the Civilopedia anyway?

^^I've wondered the same thing. In fact, the first time I ran into these problems, I had to google it.

Probably because the path to each victory is detailed, step by step in the victory overview which, I believe, has been expanded in Civ BE from Civ V. They're a bit like EL's quests inasmuch as you are told what you have to do to in order to get to the next stage of the quest. Of course, the first time you play the game, you are going down a tunnel blind, so to speak.

Just finished a new game, in which I paid more attention to the screens. It worked, I won :)

You're right. And there's quite a lot of info in the Civilopedia if you actually read the entire text :)

Trying Supremacy now, same health problems...

I play BE on a casusal basis from time to time (got something around 100h) in it, won all victories multiple times but I still have to check the victory conditions everytime I play. I just can't remember the conditions.

On another note: If you go for Purity or Supremacy win, do you tech the lasercom satallite as early as possible? I only tech to it, when I'm getting close to Affinity level 13. Is there an advantage to tech to it earlier?

The science boost to the city it's over is 15% I think which is pretty good. You could launch a few, but I can't remember if they need oil.

I always fire one quickly. For the science bonus, but also just the idea that I'm on my way :) They need oil, yes.
