Realistic request: battle turns & actions

Heres my idea:
The battle rounds system

combat broken into turns instead of to the death/withdrawl
the attacker would take the first turn, then the defender would take his turn, this would continue until one unit was dead or the attacker/defender choose to flee.
example actions:
charge - a reckless attack
brace - deal more damage to charging opponents
take cover - chance to evade ranged attacks
attack - a normal attack
defend - take less damage, deal less damage
flee - an attempt to leave combat. automatically done at the end of combat for units with withdrawal units with withdrawal get a higher chance of success.

course, we will have to redisign promotions and whatnot but this is something we could actually implement!

Programmers wanted!
 
Developement stages

I hope to go from simply adding a way to battle not to the death, to adding a tactical battle system to adding an RPG-like battle system

Stage 1 - 0.1
break combat into turns with basic actions
actions:
attack - deals HP damage based on strength
defend - reduces damage from enemy attacks, deals damage to units that attack this unit

Stage 2 - 0.2

create a demo mod with 2 units capable of attacking and defending in battle

Stage 3 - 0.3

create vanilla units that can attack and defend in combat

Stage 4 - 0.4

demo mod for stage 3

Stage 5 - 0.5

create promotions that fit better with the new battle system

Stage 6 - 0.6

Demo mod for stage 5

Stage 7 - 7.0

Create more actions for combat
Example:
charge - deal more damage but take more damage next round
brace - deal double damage to charging units
shot - ranged attack deals damage to defending units without bieng counterattacked
 
just struck me! instead of just havving a base number of turns, there should be turns until a unit chooses to flee or dies.
