Religion Founding Question

Hi,

I have recently started my first game in FFH 2 and encountered something I found weird. After exploring a dungeon I discovered an acolyte and was able to found the Order religion (went to my capital, used the acolyte to spread the religion and the city became the holy city). Should that be possible or is this some kind of a bug? (I was not even on the tech-path to the religion)

Thanks for any help

Thank You for the answer,

Is there an easy way to turn this possibility off ?

I don't know if there's a way to turn it off. Dungeons can be dangerous so getting an acolyte gives a reward to match the risk. Dungeons with risk and reward certainly seem part of a fantasy setting.

For your part, you can always just choose not to found the religion. The disciple you free (it isn't always an Order Acolyte) can be used for other purposes. You can't do anything about the AI founding a religion in this way, but I doubt that's really a major problem because it's either very rare or else impossible (I've never seen an AI found a religion in this way).

Remember taht funding religion with founded disciple isn't everything... You will want to research appriopriate religious tech, because in other case You can't build temples and disciples of that religion :)
So it is not very very overpowered. You just get Holy City of that religion, and can se a prophet to build shrine

For obvious reasons this is not allowed in RP rules. No popped disciples are allowed to found religions. And the AI usually doesn't get it either as they tend to not explore Dungeons, only lairs. However this can be very very powerful if used correctly. You can place the religion in the exact place you want and can get a shrine very very early.

RP rules ? I don't know what the abbreviation means (hope I am not making an idiot of myself admitting :) )

I dislike that rule. I enjoy that unexpected things can happen. If I get a religion early I will switch religion and roll play the changes.

Sort of like Varn Gossam, isn't it?

I think the rule exists because some people got upset when they were a few turns from a religion, then it was stolen from them not by someone who researched it, but by a disciple founding it. Of course, it is always possible that they get a free tech that founds said religion, but they can't do anything about that...

RP meaning roleplay. In some multiplayer games, the players agree that the goal is not necessarily to "win", but rather for everyone to play their civ/leader selection in a manner consistent with FfH2 lore.
