Behind the power curve.
Does anyone know how long you have to keep an AI city before disbanding it to avoid a rep hit? Is it turns or do you just have to starve it down to 1, let it grow to size 3 (city is now 2/3 your nationality), then disband? Read about this somewhere once, but it may not apply to C3C.

It doesn't give you a reputation hit.
Just disband a city after you have a majority,
it doesn't matter what size the city is.
If you raze or disband a city without a majority
the AI's attitude towards you will change.

Reputation is not Attitude.

Rep is your 20t deals capability. If you don't break a 20t treaty by your side,or you kill the betrayed civ before he/she contact others, your rep is good.
Breaking rep can be:You declared war with trading civ, when you have something to give in a 20t deal;Warring civ cut the trade route, when you have something to give in 20t deal.Your trading resource is cut down from your empire. You sign a peace treaty with common foe of MPP/MA.You sneak in other's territory and declared when being booted(Compuslry Out or not,it counts the same).Someone said there're three indivisual reputations:Trade,MA/MPP/Embargo,ROP.Peace deal violention is not punished.

Attitude is a civ's mood at you, they are:Gracious,Polite,Cautious,Annoyed,Furious. The more "good" the attitude is,the less chance they'd declared war on you.
Mood is by those factors:Civ's Aggression level,the Culture Circle of the contacting civ(Same Circle reduce 1 annoyness point),the trade,the demand,the embassy,the war,the raze,the pillaging,the disbanding slaves,fighting common foe,the MPP/MA/Embargo/ROP.See articles in War Academy.

So, if I starve down to 1-let it grow to three-then disband.....nobody will care? But, If I raze or take the city and disband before my nationality is the majority I will take a hit of some kind?

If you raze teh city, the AI won't like you, but if you capture it and then disband it hte next turn, they won't really care. But even so, they probably still wouldn't like you for taking hteir city. :p

Marine, yes.Disbanding foreign city is counted as razing in all AI,all civ will dislike you(Annoyness +1),especially the one you raze their cities. But who is allied with you against that civ you raze city from, wil like you(Annoyness -7),but when MA ends,he/she will also dislike your brutal razing.

Polite, Annoyed, Furious, Gracious, and Cautious are attitude. You can check your rep by going into diplomacy with a civ and seeing if they will take a 20 turn deal, (ie; you give 20 gpt, and will they give 300 gold?) If it says "They will never accept.", you have a trashed rep.

So building a settler when you have only have two citizens counts as disbanding too right?

Do you have to have more than 50% for disbanding to not result in an attitude hit or does it just have to be at least 50%? So for example if you build a settler out of a city that has one foreign citizen and one native citizen do you take an attitude hit?
