Advanced Start + No Settlers makes for a pretty interesting style of game. It occurred to me though that sometimes the AI doesn't build enough cities in that mode and then is screwed... and that the Mercurians/Infernal are obviously disadvantaged... and that the starting area won't necessarily have as many good locations as you'd like.

Why not a new game option so that you can only have a limited number of cities? Could be 5, could be 8, I'm not too particular... I just like to preserve some wilderness, and it'd be cool to be able to play like that without doing an Advanced Start.

i like this too ...

(( once i tried to do this, but it end up that player couldn't build settlers after 5 cities+settlers however anyone else could <.< ))

I agree your excellency. I tend to lose interest in my FFH games when whole map iss settled. I like when there's still places to explore and vast barbarian territories.

Or an option where there is a time where no settlers can be made, giving the barbs and animals time to populate the vast wilderness that would be created.

Or just have AI that doesn't try to settle every single last nook and cranny on the map, no matter if it's beneficial or not. I like the Erebuscontinents map, but it's super annoying how the AI always goes to build cities in the tiniest culture border gaps all over your empire.

I was just thinking that this would make everyone the Kuriotates, so I guess the number of cities would have to be dependant on map size and be some multiple of what the Kuriotates get. Although the reason the Kuriotates have settlements is because it was determined that limiting the number of cities made it hard to get resources. So what happens if everyone is limited that way? For it to work it might be that everyone would need settlements but the Kuriotates get fewer real cities and the third ring.
