I want to play in this current GOTM, but I then I found out I have to download the graphics for GOTM 21. And on that page I found out I have to have the graphics for each GOTM from 16-21 must be installed.

This means I need to download six different graphcis packs and install them all.

I'm going to lose my mind! Can someone please post a cumulative pack that has all the graphics I need for GOTM22 and none of the ones I don't? I'm very confused right now.

EDIT: Now I see that some of them are the same. (Example, GOTM 16 and GOTM 17 seem to both have FOG in them.) So which ones do I need? I'm so confused.

Couldn't you get the full install from GOTM21, and then put the additional one on top?

Only 2 steps that way instead of 6 - oh yes, please put versions (PTW or 1.29) into posts, it helps a lot.

Of course, there was a unit missing from the full GOTM21 install - look at the "Missing Muslim Caravel" thread. It really isn't a big deal (copying one folder to the arts/units folder) but I thought best to mention it. Maybe it's already in the full install - copying it twice won't hurt though.

Have fun and welcome!

I think you're right; I followed the individual links to GOTMs 16-20 RATHER THAN going to the bottom of the page and getting the main file. Oh well. I think I safely installed all of them anyway.

I also think the .exe file for GOTM22 installed correctly, but I was scared when I did it. :p Now I just have to wait for August 1st...

EDIT: PTW 1.21 BTW.

Cool. Might be an idea to check on the Muslim Caravel though - and don't forget to swap resources (2 files in the art directory that have to be swapped to view resources properly).

Finally, you did take a note of where the save file will be? If not... ah well, you can always run the GOTM22 auto install first.

The Mac users are gonna be screaming for their version - I'm sure Cracker's aware of this, I'm just saying count yourself lucky!

The Muslim Caravel is there. What do you mean by swapping resources? Now I'm confused. :ack:

And yes, I copy/pasted the link into my browser and bookmarked it for August 1st. ;)

The resources are custom made for GOTM - I could tell you to go to page 2 from the thread listings page, but as I'm a nice guy;-

As I recall the procedure is a bit different from PTW to 1.29, but all it really entails is copying and pasting the resource.pcx and resouce_shadow.pcx files in the art folder with the GOTM equivalents.

If you can't see things like luxuries, fish, wheat etc properly, the chances are good these files are mixed up.

Likewise, if you play a normal game of Civ, you have to swap them back again, otherwise again, the resouces look wrong.

If you DO end up getting it wrong while in the middle of a game - just save, quit, swap and reload.

@ cgannon64 & CruddyLeper-

You only have to swap the resource files in regular Civ, not PTW.
The files for PTW go into the scenario folder and get accessed automatically by the way the save games originally setup.
