Request: More Resources!

I recall in Civ 5, there was a mod or two that added in custom luxury resources.

Is it possible to do things like that in beyond earth as well?

not only luxury resources but pretty much basic common resources. I find the current set too lacking and not diverse enough... although I find that silica, basalt, gold and copper are not as common as the in game pedia makes them out to be. Rarely do I ever find more than 4 or 5 copper and gold on a single given map. Gold is suppose to be MUCH more common.

I wonder what would be better ideas:

Resources we know, like Silver, Citrus, fish (seriously, where are the fish schools?) ect...

Or custom resources like those currently in Beyond Earth.

Well, both could also work.

Probably a mix of the two.

There could be some kind of alien fruit trees, maybe a chitin-like resource but provides food, giant sea arthropods for food as well, diamonds for production (diamonds are intrinsically worthless and would be more useful for machinery), uranium would be super rare but could generate massive amounts of energy, maybe some kind of vapour pools that give health when improved etc. The potential for new resources is definitely strong
