Respect the aquaduct

It's really remarkable how important an aquaduct is to a city that doesn't have a fresh water supply.

To have the pop grow beyond 6 is huge and while an aquaduct is a heafty item to build, the payback in the long run is measurable.

Getting the pop up to 6 generally isn't that tough, and once it's there - an aquaduct can be built in a fairly short amount of time (considering you have some grassland and/or hills in your city limits and not a lot of desert and/or plains).

Respect the aquaduct.

Definitely, although I try to put my cities next to rivers if I can.

Always try to get granaries and aqueducts built with some chops helping it, initially 1 chop for grany, start building aqueduct on size 5 and chop as much as needed for it (2 might be enough), when its on size 6 and keeps growing you might it aqueduct just in time for it to grow 7 avoiding waste of food.

Or just get the GA and build the aqueducts on it.
