The magazine Fire and Movement has a 9 page review of "Sid Meier's Civilization: The Board Game" in issue #130, recently released. I haven't seen anyone mention it here; apologies if this thread belongs elsewhere.

Unfortunately I can't find an online version of the review; it's a bit mixed, with there being problems with a partly finished game...just like it's prototype I guess :)

The reviewer calls the components "visually stunning" but notes that the game lengths quoted appear optimistically low. (Not an infrequent fault of board games - CNA, anyone??)

The reviewer also notes there have been several errata issued, but wonders how many casual consumers will avail themselves of these, and whether the game out of the box may put people off a bit.

He also notes there seems to be a lot of record keeping, which he notes the computer would of course handle in the prototype,
but comments favourably on the overall flavour of the game.

Like I said, it's a mixed review.
