Rhye's and Fall - crashing every turn...

I've read the odd post about people's Rhye's and Fall games crashing, with no helpful hints being thrown out about possible solutions (but I can't find those post at the moment - I'm a noob to posting at CFC...)

For me, it now crashes to the desk-top, with no error message, EVERY damn turn, making it unplayable. This is really frustrating, as for me, Rhye's and Fall is the top reason to buy BtS... (The first time I tried this scenario, it crashed every few turns: I was convinced it was my CPU overheating at first, but after looking at the CPU monitor, and opening up the casing to double check, it became clear it wasn't. It then started crashing more and more frequently...)

None of the other scenarios I've played (yet) have this problem, nor the main game; it's unique to Rhye's. And it is really frustrating. As a Mac user, the only reason I finally bought a Windows machine was to play Civ3 when I couldn't wait long enough for a Mac version. Likewise when Civ4 came out, I bought a new computer the week before in preparation...

Sooooo - can anybody please suggest possible reasons for this problem?

I'm running Windows XP, service pack 2, IIRC. It's a Japanese version, but I don't read Japanese, and since I'm a Mac user except for gaming, I have very little idea of what goes on inside this machine; where and how to put files, etc. My wife just tells me "you can't just re-name them like on a Mac you know...". IIRC it's got an MSI 945 Intel dual core processor, so should have plenty of grunt. Anyway, it plays the main game fine.

Any other things people would like to know before running a diagnosis? I have Warlords installed as well as the vanilla game, and both are ptched up to date.

Cheers, Luke
