I made this primarily for my own fun, but I thougth that since I had already made the effort I might as well put it up here for the enjoyment of the community.
So far I've found that it's really a new kind of Civ experience, you're much more stuck in the area where you start, with only two directions to go in expansion is going to be nill or over beaten backs of your neighbours, and unless your prepared to kiss and open borders with every civ on the way chances are you won't have circumnavigated the globe till well in the modern age, if you manage at all.
Basically this is a random Civ4 map (made with Atlas for X and Y wrapping) turned into a ringworld by liberal use of a ten plot wide mountain range. So for those expecting a map of Niven's Ringworld Novel, sorry to dissappoint
. I hope you'll try it out anyways though. For those of you not familiar with the concept of a ringworld: Wikipedia.
There are 18 civs, permanent alliances and aggresive AI are on (the last one because in my opinion regular AI's are just too peacefull), which difficulty and speed are up to you, though I've only tested this version on noble/standard, and barbarians might become a big problem on higher/slower settings.
One final note: This is a *big* map, even taking into account that half of it is covered in impassable mountains, I estimate the amount of usable land is still about 1.5 to 2 times as big as a normal Huge map.
Well, that's it, if I did something wrong somewhere, tell me and I'll take a look at it.
Till then, happy Civing.
((Also, I forgot, as you see it's still a Beta, the only thing it lacks are rivers and lacks, primarily because I have no clue how and where to start putting them in >.< Though for this version let's call it a feature and pretend it's meant to be like that >.>))
P.S. If your so inclined for some reason, feel free to edit, change, greatly improve, or otherwise use this map for your own projects or enjoyment. You don't have to ask, just give credit where credit is due, if you don't.... well, I won't do anything, but karma can be a #!@%$, so you probably don't want to tick her off. ^_^
