What do you all think about rising ocean levels with the advent of Global Warming like they had in the original Civilization for DOS? (Yeah, you can guess that I'm dating myself a bit )
I have a good feeling about Civ 4 having elevation, since it's in 3D. This way there could be a sensible idea of where flooding would take place and what parts of the world would be safe from it.
If fresh water bodies gradually disappeared, that would be a nice touch as well. Hopefully elevation will be incorporated. It just wouldn't make sense for a coastal mountain range to be flooded
I would like rising ocean levels but not 1 tile EVERYWHERE, but a few tiles here and there as things get worse. That way if the problem is fixed the rate of things gets slowed down. However, the worse the pollution is, the more tiles that sink faster.
If you have the entire coastline vanish then it's like culture flipping or getting a GL - a big huge event that suddenly changes things randomly. Big random events are BAD.
I like the idea. To me, it seems realistic and would encourage you to build more hydro plants etc.... I don't think it should be too dramatic though, perhaps a square or two once in a blue moon.
I doubt it would be every square on the coast anymore, in 3D. It would be the low land at sea level first, then gradually higher. A few islands would take it, and Holland.
