I don't roleplay like your examples,

I talk to the other civs! Yes, that's right, I make up news-flash titles and say what happened in the game as it's if a history textbook, and talk during diplomacy. And then I talk for them, based on what they say.

Now, I don't do this outloud, just in my head. It makes the game more fun.

Also, I like toavoid the temptaion of getting all resources/luxeries myself as I LOVE importing/exporting.

Check this picture for an example of the coolest, most roleplayed game I have going:

P.S. I would like to see this link for Aeson.

Actually, that's Lefty, from OT.

@Hygro: It's in the GOTM forum, under GOTM15 Spoilers: Early Game, post #6. Hard to miss Aeson's Orange Crush Avatar.

Wow, I don't think I've seen that before. So much for being original

Regarding Role-Playing, i used to do it since i started civ.
No way i would move my Palace, no way i would whip people, no way i would research one tech which is not logical to be searched (imagining having cavalry before education for instance... etc.
But then, i lost several games...
But now, i play it my way... :mwaha:

Wrong so so wrong.............

To date, I haven't roleplayed; however, I am still fairly new to Civ 3 and have had no shortage of fun since day one. I may roleplay one day in the future if the game becomes stale.

I think it's stupid to roleplay something that actually happened in this game because its not detailed enough. For instance if you wanted to roleplay the first world war it wouldn't seem very real. If you really want to roleplay or give the game a more personal feel then you should try renaming your cities to fit the circumstances, like renaming a city that you just put in the desert to claim oil later in the game "Hopin for Oil" or something, i dunno. Use your imagination.

"Hopin For Oil" is the opposite of roleplaying. It's just stating facts to use as reference.

I always roleplay in a sense. That sense is that I don't play to "win" in the most effecient possible manner - instead I try to build the type of civilization I want to build. Usually this means OCP, no whipping, minimal wars, no tech whoring or RoP-rape or ping-pong, etc. Now, I can't win on the highest difficulty levels this way - but that doesn't bother me.

IMO the most important point about this sort of thing is that Civ is a GAME. The only thing that's important is that you have fun. So, everyone should just play however is most fun for them.
