Rpg-aspect of units expanded?

Should the rpg-aspect of units be expanded upon in civ5? I thought it was pretty dull in in civ4, but if they make each unit more valuable and exclusive in single tiles, it could be fun. Otoh, maybe it detracts from the large-scale strategy.

What's your opinion? Should they take it further or focus on other parts?
 
I like the idea of having constant benefits for experiance gains. Constantly upgrading units reduces the effectiveness of the unit spam strategies and encourages players to treat each unit as precious. In Civ4, even with upgrades it was too easy to just pump gold and mass rush buy units. My guess is with one unit per tile that units will be more expensive. If so then increasing the RPG aspect may be essential.
