RPG Maker VX Ace now available

I am not sure if anybody would be interested, but I figured that I would pass this along. I recently went to Enterbrain's RPG Maker Web website and discovered that RPG Maker VX Ace has been released. The tool itself is about $80, but there is a 30 day free trial. One of the key features that I have noticed is that it has a tool for customizing character sprites for those of use who are artistically challanged.

For those of you who don't know, RPG Maker is a tool that allows users to make RPG's similar to the old JRPGs popular during the 8-bit and 16-bit era of gaming (like Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc.). While the latest versions include a scripting language, it is not needed to make a complete game. The user's can make the games using the editor and database, along with the event system.

Have they finally added an ATB-like battle system, or do you still have to code the damned thing yourself?

Not sure... but I don't think so from what I have seen. They did add a counterattack ability.

heh I remember playing around with what I assume is an older translated from japanese version of this some years ago.

These days I could program a game myself!
