running CIV V under Win7 vs XP

Civ is the most demanding program I have on my PC (running XP).

Back when Vista came out, it turned out to be far slower than XP so, not needing any Vista specific features, I went back to XP.

What have you who run Win7 experienced in regard to speed vs XP? Since XP is history, eventually I will have no choice but to use it, but I wonder if it is at least the equal of XP for speed in running applications (like Civ). I know that 7 uses a newer version of ActiveX (V11?), but I think Vista did too (V10?).

I have a pretty common desktop: Core2Duo 2.33 Ghz, 4 Gb RAM, GeForce 250GTS.
Win7 DirectX 9 version runs faster than XP DirectX 9. The video is same but Win7 makes anything (loadings, ends of turns etc.) faster a bit. I think that's because Win7 is better for games. Back in 2001, when XP was made, games weren't that big entertainment like now.
