Well, after playing Civ II again, i decided to dig out AC...installed fine, no problems.

But now, i have problems. Ive searched and read all the patch threads, but no one seems to have the same problem i do.

I run the game, from the start menu...and.......

...nothing happens.

At all.

Its like i never even tried to run it. No warning messages, no errors, nothing.

The only thing i didnt do in the install was install DX6, as i already have 8. Would this make that much of a difference?

no. I had dX 8, now have dX 9 and don't havy any problems with running SMAC. something else must be wrong... try to reinstall it.

Sounds like the problem I had before installing some patch... Yhe patch that fixed thigs for me should be laying around here in some thread somewhere

After installing the game I couldn`t run it on my XP, so I downloaded and installed the XP compabilty patch from gamespot, but it still saies that my cpu is not supported and that I may try to play, but the game crashes. It`s like I didn`t installed the patch, even though I reinstalled it and checked that it goes to the right folder several times.
Any tips ?
Perhaps another patch ?

uplink's problem is solved by putting "ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=1" (without the quotes) in the Alpha Centauri.ini file in your SMAC dir.

Thank you, it worked.

Hi - I am having problems running it as well.
I recently got SMAC, and installed the XP patch and did the whole ForceOldVoxelAlgorithm=1.
But they did not work, so I tried various states of without patch, without voxelalgorithm, with compatiblity mode, etc, and they all don't seem to work.I've uninstalled and reinstalled it.
It crashes with an "error in terran.exe". I am running WinXP SP2
Any suggestions?
