For some reason since my last format, SMAC will not run without randomly crashing (I've applied the XP patch, tried running with and without compatibility mode). So I decided to install Virtual PC and install SMAC in a Win98 environment. For some reason, I can't get the game to go much past the loading screen. I've got the Planetary Pack and the frontend to pick from SMAC or SMACX works, but after that nothing, just sits on the loading screen and my DVD drive spins uninterrupted. Eventually I get the "CPU not supported" error, click through, and the game crashes. Has anyone been able to get SMAC running in a virtual pc?
