Hey all,

Well, I hope there is someone here that can help me, since I couldnt find a car forum with nearly as many active members, and I am sure at least one or two of you know what I'm talking about here!

I just bought my girl's 1995 4runner. It has chrome bumpers, and on the back bumper there are a few small rust spots (smaller than the head of a q-tip), but the problem is they run in the rain and will spread if left alone. I used chrome polish to get the streaks off, but it didnt seal off the spots. I don't want to rechrome the bumper, or get into sanding the spots down and messing the bumper up more. The big question here is what can I use to "spot-seal" the small spots to keep them from running/spreading? If anyone knows the answer PLEASE help. I have searched extensively and have been unable to find anything. I will much appreciate an answer to this!

Thanks VERY much!!

Dennis

Scrap it off and make some thermite.

Iron oxide is used to make it, I wasn't thinking right.

Remember a well oiled bicycle chain never rusts.

I suggest you scrape it off, and then smear a little thick mineral grease.
The grease will exclude air and water and prevent further corrosion.

And when you wash it, don't use any chemicals or really strong
detergent which will remove the grease.

If you can't get the rust off with chrome polish, you are a bit late already. Would you should do:
-Use top quality rust-removing polish. Purchase it at a quality carshop, not at the local supermarket.
-If there is still rust, the only way to really stop it, is by removing it completely. rechroming is the only decent solution, I guess
-There are sprays the really delay further rust form. You can use it after polishing.

Thanks for the info guys. Do you have any specifics as to which products I should use? Would much appreciate it!
