Hi, I recently bought Civ 4 a few days ago. I'm having a good time on it, but I noticed something odd this morning. Unfortunately I had to shoot off to work, so I didn't have time to look at the manual.
I learned a few good tips while playing, and I wanted to try implementing them in a new game to see what kind of effect it would have. I chose the same map settings, and picked the same civilization (Egypt).
Once the game began, I noticed my starting location looked eerily familiar. I started again, using the same settings, and got the same map again.
What I would like to know, is if this behaviour is by design or not. If so, how do I make the program generate a new map? If it's not working correctly, what may cause this problem? Perhaps the game is using the same random seed every time?
I haven't patched my copy yet, as I don't have internet access at home. I'm downloading the patch now, and I'll copy it to a disk.
