Save Games Failure

Civ 5 crashes whenever I create a save game, either right when I click "Save Game", or upon clicking "Steam Cloud".

Does anyone else have this problem?

What I find strange is that the game just 'flicks' off. No, "<insert program> has stopped working", and afterwards the game won't reload and Steam tries to reconnect when my computer is offline and steam is set to run offline.

This problem is new.

If I left out any required details please let me know.

Thanks

Can you run steam on online mode?

Maybe the game is trying to access the location of the save files and fails, thus it crashes?

Well, for now I can't use my gaming PC's Internet. I'm not using my gaming PC for Civfanatics. Could I relocate my save directory?

Steam cloud is obviosly internet-made, if you don't got internet right now is possible that the game tries to look for steam cloud, but it fails horribly, while that shouldn't make it crash, it seems to cause it.

About relocating the saves; hmm dunno if possible, it depends if the location is registry based; in that case you could just edit the registry to move it, but chances are that the saves are bound to the location of the Mygames folder with the config and such. Hmmm.

The following is risky, do you know how to edit the registry? Open the registry editor and go to Hkeylocalmachine/software/Firaxis/CivilizationV, there should lie a key called "Userpath" which stores the settings and the saves, edit that entry and select the new location you desire, if there are problems with that it might fix it, don't forget to move the folder to it's location once you're done editing. Remember that I haven't tested it yet. If it doesn't work, just restore the path to the original location, just in case.
