Hello everyone. I'm new to the board. I'm also a newbie to playing Civilization. I actually started last summer when a friend of mine introduced me to CivII. I became addicted as most of you probably have as well. Anyways, I've "upgraded" my play to Civ III. I wonder if someone would be kind enough to tell me how to save games onto a floppy, cd, or removable disk.

The only way I can think of is to burn the save file onto the CD... So you need to first save it into the default save folder, then burn it.

EDIT: Welcome to CFC!

The save files are generally too large to save to floppy. Even compressing them down by saving them with the Ctrl-S function in Civ3, they get pretty big after a while.

There is an autosave function that saves the previous five turns, and the first turn. This directory is deleted when a new game starts, but you can browse to that directory and move them elsewhere.

Assuming that you installed it with the default path, your save directory will be C:\Program Files\Infogrames Interactive\Civilization III\Saves. The autosave files will be in the 'Auto' folder under 'Saves'. If you're playing PTW or Conquests, they will be in '..\Civilization III\PTW(or Conquests)\Save'.
